Duke of Edinburgh
Welcome to the Duke of Edinburgh's Award section!
'The Duke of Edinburgh award is a challenging programme of activities which will help you learn new skills, help others, work as a team, experience adventure and get a great sense of achievement. What’s more, many organisations, such as employers and universities love it and embrace what it says about you as person.'
We are proud as a school to be able to offer the Bronze (Yr.10), Silver (Yr.12) and Gold (yr.13) Duke of Edinburgh awards to any pupil that wishes to participate, while also providing further opportunities for pupils to apply for 'Young Leaders' courses in Glanllyn and Youth Ambassadors within the UK. We currently have a year 12 pupil enrolled and training to become a Youth Ambassador - one of only 50 in the UK!
Over the years the award has grown in participant numbers, trained staff and facilities and now we are able to offer all levels of the award with the continued and invaluable support of Carmarthenshire County Council.
To achieve the qualification the individual needs to complete 4 aspects that include Charitable work, learning a new Skill, committing to a Physical task and complete a practice Expedition then a final assessment. The time limit for each aspect depends on the level of award. Follow the link below to learn more .....
