Key Stage 3

(Years 7, 8 & 9)

KS3 pupils at Ysgol Maes Y Gwendraeth follow various interesting and exciting subjects over a two-week timetable. The curriculum includes the core lessons of Welsh, English and Mathematics and Science in years 7, 8 and 9. The rest of the fortnightly timetable is divided between non-core subjects under the wing of the Learning and Experience Areas of the new Curriculum as follows:

Physical Education, Food and Nutrition, Sport and Wellbeing

French and Spanish

Art, Music, Drama

Humanities (History, Geography and Religious Studies)

Design and Technology

The key skills (literacy, numeracy and digital competence) will be applied across the curriculum, in all subjects as well as Information Technology (IT) lessons.

During Year 9, pupils begin and complete the process of choosing their GCSE subjects, starting their new timetable after Whitsun half term.
